Pro Per Manuals
The Court of Appeals has designed
two manuals to help lay people appearing in propria persona make accurate
filings on appeal. One is a guide for appellants, who are the parties initiating
the appeal. The other is a guide for appellees, who are responding to the appeal
and issues brought by the appellants.
These manuals are procedural guides.
They provide forms and explanations for those forms, but they do not provide
legal advice. They will not tell you whether to file a particular form. Once you decide
which forms to file, they will help you fill out those forms.
The provision of these manuals on
the Court of Appeals web site should not be viewed as encouragement to individuals
to represent themselves before the Court. The decision whether to file an appeal without
an attorney deserves serious consideration based on each individual's personal circumstances.
The full text of these manuals is
available in Adobe Acrobat PDF file format. If required, you may download Adobe's
